Modi

Modi (Módi) in Norse mythology is one of the sons of Thor, the thunder god. His name is believed to mean “Courage” or “Bravery.” Módi is often mentioned alongside his brother Magni, whose names collectively reflect the heroic and powerful legacy of their father. In the mythological texts, it is mentioned that both Módi and Magni survive the catastrophic events of Ragnarök, the apocalypse in Norse mythology, and are destined to inherit Thor’s hammer, Mjölnir, which symbolizes strength and protection.
Despite Módi’s presence in the mythological lineage, specific stories and detailed accounts of his deeds are sparse in the surviving texts. His character, like many others in Norse mythology, is emblematic, representing the enduring characteristics of bravery and resilience that were highly valued by the Norse people. Through his survival of Ragnarök, Módi is part of the renewal of the world, representing the continuation and rebirth of divine power and order.
