Sif
Sif is a prominent goddess in Norse mythology, known primarily for her beauty and her associations with fertility, family, and the earth.
Sif is best known as the wife of Thor, the god of thunder. Their marriage symbolizes strength and protection, with Thor often seen as a defender of both gods and humans.
Sif is famously described as having long, golden hair, which has various interpretations, often symbolizing ripened fields of grain or fertility. In one myth, Loki, in a mischievous act, cuts off Sif’s hair, leading to a series of events that result in the creation of magical gifts for the gods, including Thor’s hammer, Mjölnir.
Sif is associated with fertility and the earth, particularly in her connection with crops and the harvest. Her golden hair represents bountiful fields, linking her to agricultural abundance.
Sif is also portrayed as a nurturing figure, being the mother of two children with Thor: Modi, and Magni, who are associated with strength. Sif is also mother of Ullr while Thor is considered as a stepfather.
